Bob Dann: Employee Spotlight

Today’s Employee Spotlight is on Bob Dann, one of our talented medical writers. Read our Q&A with him below.

Where are you from?

I’m currently from Phoenix, AZ, but really have been a New Englander most of my life – Boston and New Hampshire.

How long have you worked at Synterex?

I started on October 10, 2022, so just over 5 months now.

What is your favorite thing about the company?

The spirit of genuine cooperation; everyone is willing to help everyone else.

How did you end up in medical writing?

I did a lot of medical writing during decades of clinical research positions, from Clinical Research Associate to Director of Clinical Operations. During that time, I wrote protocols, CSRs, INDs, NDAs, ICFs, narratives, and designed clinical programs for startup companies. During COVID, when travel was so difficult, I decided to leave clinical operations and did contract writing for the last year or so, then was very happy to accept this position with Synterex.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Being able to work with great colleagues in a way that makes significant contributions to the advancement of medical care for patients with significant unmet needs.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I’m proud of raising two children who are accomplished in their respective fields, and with whom we are still on good terms. Both live within 10 miles of us here in Phoenix, so we see one another frequently. Our son spent 17 years in Israel, and he has now returned to specialize in IT. Our daughter is a tenured professor at Arizona State, and she was recently awarded an important grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

What are some of the hobbies/interests you’re most passionate about?

I enjoy travel photography and soccer.
