Taylor Friend: Employee Spotlight

Today’s Employee Spotlight is on Taylor Friend, one of our amazing medical writers. Read our Q&A with her below.

How do you feel about Synterex being recognized on the Boston Business Journal Fast50 list of the fastest growing companies in Massachusetts?

This award is a testament to the high-quality work our team does, and I am proud to be a part of it.

What do you find most rewarding about working here? What initially attracted you to Synterex and has kept you here?

I have wonderful colleagues who embody the spirit of teamwork. Everyone is always happy to collaborate and support each other. I’ve also had opportunities to work on a wide variety of different regulatory documents, which has quickly facilitated my growth as a medical writer.

In what ways have the employee initiatives at Synterex, such as Lunch and Learn, contributed to your development?

The Lunch and Learn presentations have provided me an opportunity to learn about medical writing business models and new tools under development in other departments, along with learning about specialized topics from colleagues with different backgrounds. Additionally, Synterex has offered Earth Day initiatives in the past that have allowed me to give back to my community.

What drew you to a career in medical writing?

I developed an interest in clinical research in the human and veterinary space due to my doctoral research project’s clinical nature. Solving the puzzles of assay development in the lab was highly rewarding, but I enjoyed collating and analyzing data to tell its story even more. A career in regulatory medical writing has allowed me to pursue scientific writing while contributing to the development of novel therapeutics that improve the lives of patients.

Could you share a particularly memorable project or accomplishment in your career?

I was afforded leadership and project management opportunities early in my medical writing career, which led to receiving the “stepping up” award 2 months in a row.

What do you find most rewarding about being a medical writer?

Contributing to novel therapeutics that improve patient health and building relationships with clients.

What would you say to a prospective candidate who is looking to join Synterex?

There are fields of opportunities to grow your regulatory writing skillset with a wonderful team here!
