Where are you from?

I grew up in Central Pennsylvania in a small town called Huntingdon. I got my bachelor’s degree at a liberal arts college in my hometown. After that, I went on to grad school at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. Once I graduated I took a post-doc in San Francisco. I have been in California ever since, moving from northern to southern California.

How long have you worked at Synterex?

Nine months so far. I started on December 13, 2021.

What is your favorite thing about the company?

I most like the willingness of everyone in the company to help each other.

How did you get into medical writing?

I have always enjoyed writing. While at J&J, I was a program director for a drug development project. At that job, I had the opportunity to author sections of our BLA, meet with the FDA, and I often drafted correspondence to the FDA for my boss.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I like the fact that I can continue to contribute to medical advancements from my home office.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Professionally, I’m proud of finishing my bachelor’s degree in only one year, so I could move on to an exciting graduate program in human genetics/molecular biology. In my personal life, I’m very proud to have finished five Ironman Triathlons, including two world championships in Kona, Hawaii.

What are some of the hobbies/interests you’re most passionate about?

Stand-up paddle surfing in the ocean, biking, and swimming.
